The History of the Microscope

The first microscopes weren’t much stronger than a magnifying glass. A Dutch father and son named Hans and Zacharias Janssen invented the first microscope in the late 16th century by putting a lens at the top and bottom of a tube. Their device only magnified objects up to 9x and created an extremely blurred view, but it laid the groundwork for the more advanced microscopes that scientists rely on today.
