Monster Energy Drink got its start as Hansen's Natural. Founded in the 1930s, Hansen’s was a family-run business dedicated to making healthy fruit juices. The company experimented with sodas in the 1970s, but otherwise didn’t deviate much from its original mandate for many decades. Then in 2002, the company launched Monster Energy Drink. The drink was originally rolled out to increase brand popularity and capitalize on the exploding energy drink market. The company quickly expanded its offerings and there are now over 34 different flavors to choose from. Like its competitor Red Bull, Monster also sponsored motorsports and musical acts to build a brand and gain a loyal following, particularly among young people. Today, Monster Energy Drink is one of the most popular energy drinks on the market and is widely available all over the world.
