The History of Chocolate Chip Cookies

The chocolate chip cookie originated from a chance occurrence! In 1930, Ruth Wakefield, owner of the Toll House Inn, decided to add chopped-up pieces of a Nestle chocolate bar to her tried-and-true Butter Drop Do recipe, assuming she’d end up with solid chocolate cookies. Instead, the resulting “Chocolate Chip Cookie” became the beloved staple we know today.
