The History of Cell Phones

Cell phones are everywhere these days. But did you know that they originally started as a simple edition to cars? The first AT&T mobile phone appeared in an automobile all the way back in 1946, but it had to be connected to the car and only worked in certain urban areas. In 1973, the first phone call using a handheld cell phone was made by a Motorola researcher named Martin Cooper. The phone weighed almost 2.5 pounds, but it heralded a new stage in cell phone technology. Since then, multiple generations of cell phone technology have been developed in order to meet public demand, and cell phones have become part of everyday life.
