The History of Ben & Jerry’s The Tonight Dough Ice Cream

Ben & Jerry’s first collaborated with Jimmy Fallon on the now-discontinued ice cream flavor, Late Night Snack. When the Ben & Jerry’s team learned that Fallon would be moving to a new show, they reached out about creating another collaboration flavor together. After choosing the name The Tonight Dough (a play on The Tonight Show) the team sent Fallon three flavor profiles to choose from, each featuring different ice cream bases and cookie dough combinations. Each option incorporated something about Fallon himself, the show, New York City, or all three. Fallon ultimately selected a recipe that combined chocolate ice cream, caramel ice cream, chocolate chip cookie dough, peanut butter cookie dough, and a crunchy chocolate cookie swirl. Ben & Jerry’s The Tonight Dough ice cream made its debut in 2015 and immediately became a hit with consumers. Additionally, it was arranged for Fallon’s portion of the proceeds to go directly to a charity called SeriousFun Children’s Network. Today, the flavor remains one of the most popular Ben & Jerry’s offerings and there is even a non-dairy version available!
