Half Baked is one of Ben & Jerry’s top flavors, but do you know how it got its start? Half Baked was actually created by combining two existing Ben & Jerry’s flavors together — Chocolate Fudge Brownie and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. Ben & Jerry’s refers to swirled flavors like Half Baked as 2Twisted! flavors (interestingly, the only other surviving 2Twisted! flavor is Everything But The… which is actually a combination of 3 flavors in one). Half Baked made its debut in 2000, and in 2006, it was the subject of a 15-second claymation commercial that featured Ben and Jerry bantering. The name of the famous flavor comes from the fact that the cookie dough in it is unbaked, but the fudge brownie bits are baked, so when taken together, the ingredients are literally “half baked.” Today, Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked is one of the company’s top flavors and is available in over a dozen countries.
